Ollis Chiropractic - Louisville

Chiropractic was discovered in 1895 when Daniel David (D.D.) Palmer, a Canadian immigrant, delivered the first chiropractic adjustment to a local janitor named Harvey Lillard in Davenport, Iowa.  D.D. Palmer always had an interest in alternative forms of healthcare, and was especially intrigued by anatomy, especially skeletal systems, whether animal or human.

Harvey had injured his upper back years prior while performing physical labor and heard a “popping” noise.  Subsequent to that event, he slowly lost his hearing until, eventually, it was greatly impaired.  One way or another, D.D. and Harvey got acquainted, and D.D. examined Harvey’s spine.  While examining Harvey’s spine, D.D. noticed that one of Harvey’s spinal bones between his shoulder blades was significantly rotated out of alignment relative to the spinal bones around it.  D.D. simply contacted a portion of the misaligned spinal bone in Harvey’s back and unrotated it. After doing so, Harvey reported a significant improvement in his hearing.

D.D. realized he had discovered something incredible.  Two years later, in 1897, D.D. Palmer opened the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the very first chiropractic school in the world.  Today, that school is known as Palmer College of Chiropractic.  Palmer is the largest chiropractic school in the world, having trained approximately one-third of all chiropractors.  Because of the unparalleled training that Palmer-educated Doctors of Chiropractic receive in their 3 ⅓ years tenure at Palmer, Palmer graduates are the most sought after chiropractors in the world!

The doctors here at Ollis Chiropractic are Palmer-educated doctors and are proud to be a part of such a rich chiropractic tradition.  If you would like to learn more about chiropractic, or how we can serve you and your family, please contact the Ollis Chiropractic team at [email protected] or 502-412-8580.
